Q: How old do I need to be to volunteer?

A: You must be over the age of 18.

Q: How much of a time commitment will volunteering be?

A: We will be asking volunteers to be available for the weekend of RTX Sydney 2016 and the Friday beforehand, for a total of 3 days.

Q: Should I volunteer for RTX Sydney?

A: You should only volunteer if you are willing to dedicate your time to helping run the event. We require our volunteers to be available to work both 2 days of RTX Sydney, so if you can’t do that, don’t volunteer.

Q: How many volunteers will be chosen?

A: A lot.

Q: What do Guardians do?

A: Guardians are volunteers for the event. They help run the show in many ways, including tech support, managing lines and crowds, providing information to attendees, security, and much more.

Q: What will I receive if I’m chosen to volunteer?

A: You will receive a weekend pass to RTX Sydney and a super fashionable volunteer shirt!

Q: How do I apply to be a volunteer?

A: The application to be a Guardian for RTX Sydney are open now!

Q: Do I need to live in Sydney, Australia to be a Guardian?

A: No. However, you do need to be in Sydney during the specified time frame.

Q: Will RTX Sydney cover my accommodations, travel, and other expenses?

A: No- YOU are responsible for your own travel expenses, accommodations, and food while attending RTX Sydney. We will provide lunch and water, but it’s always good to come prepared.

Q: If I’m a volunteer, will I get to meet the RT staff?

A: While we work very closely with our Guardians, there is no guarantee you will meet the RT staff. If you are volunteering just in hopes of meeting your favorite cast members, don’t volunteer. you are here to support RTX Sydney and the operations of the event- you must be a Guardian first, and a fan second.

Q: Any other info I should know?

A: Being a Guardian is very physically demanding; it involves a lot of walking, standing, and lifting, so it’s important that you stay hydrated, wear comfortable shoes, and are prepared to be pretty tired at the end of each day.
